Part of sulphur, nitrogen and oxygen compounds contained in the processed raw material is transformed into volatile products. Therefore liquid pyrolysis products often contain high concentrations of oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur bound in the form of organic compounds. It is one of the causes of the high reactivity of these products leading to the gradual polymerization, polycondensation and other reactions resulting in an increasing average molecular weight of liquid product of pyrolysis and often in formation of substances in the solid form. It is therefore important to reduce the content of oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur bound in the form of volatile organic compounds by their transformation into water vapour, ammonia and hydrogen sulphide. The study examined the possibility of thermal-catalytic refining of volatile products in the vapour phase in the reactor incorporated directly into the stream of volatile products leaving the pyrolytic furnace.
