Geological and hydrogeological conditions in the Lukovský stream valley before Radovesice dump building
- Výzkumný ústav pro hnědé uhlí a.s.
Radovesice dump is situated in the vicinity of the town of Bílina in the north-western Bohemia. The dump is operated by Severočeské doly (a mining company). The plan for building a large-scale elevated dump outside the former Maxim Gorkij Mine was designed in 1961. The intended area for dumping about 1 billion cubic meters of overburden was located in the Lukovský stream valley in cadastral districts of Radovesice, Dřínek, Lyskovice, and Hetov. The geological conditions of this area were very diverse and influenced the hydrogeological conditions to a considerable extent. The level of exploration concerning this area and methods of dump bed dewatering will be described in the next issue.
