Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2023, 63(3)
During surface mining and the subsequent transport of mined minerals, practically all activities (whether mining or transport) lead to the release of dust particles into the surroundings. Environmental protection is currently a priority for every mining company. The article describes the use of windbreak walls as one of the means for reducing the negative effects of fugitive emissions escaping into the surroundings, as well as the installation and specific characteristics of this passive means. The reduction in dustiness is especially noticeable near populated areas. The article also provides a comparison of sedimentation dust values in the adjacent...
Hydrogeological regime of groundwater in the vicinity of the Medard Lake in 2022
Ing. Petr Valvoda
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2023, 63(3)
The article evaluates changes in the hydrogeological behaviour of groundwater in the area of Medard lake in 2022. Hydro-geological conditions in the area have been mapped since 2008, when the pumping of mine water at the bottom of the quarry was stopped . The final level of the lake (400,0 m above sea level) was reached in March 2017. Three observation wells (MPT13, HG14 and MPT16) were used to monitor the levels of groundwater in the vicinity of the lake in 2022. The obtained measurement results illustrate the view of the hydrogeological conditions in the area that have occurred since the lake was filled. After the final level is reached, hydrogeological...

The experimental plantation was established of fast-growing trees on an eastern slope of recultivated spoiler heap-mine Lochočice. Quantitative parameters have been measured since the end of first growing season in 1995. The plantation was harvested in 3year and 12year rotations in 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007 and 2010. The average annual yield was 5.5 and 3.6 t(dry)/ha/yr of six best evaluated poplar clones in 3year rotation after four harvests (2001-2010) and in 12year rotation respectively. Only registered variety of P. nigra × P. simonii 'Kaktu' maintained good vitality after 27 years of coppicing with 5 harvests in 3year rotation in condition of...
