Installation of windbreak walls at the Ledvice Coal Treatment Plant - the Hlubinný stack I and II facility

Ing. David Hirman, Ing. Vladimír Herškovič

During surface mining and the subsequent transport of mined minerals, practically all activities (whether mining or transport) lead to the release of dust particles into the surroundings. Environmental protection is currently a priority for every mining company. The article describes the use of windbreak walls as one of the means for reducing the negative effects of fugitive emissions escaping into the surroundings, as well as the installation and specific characteristics of this passive means. The reduction in dustiness is especially noticeable near populated areas. The article also provides a comparison of sedimentation dust values in the adjacent village of Ledvice before and after the installation of the measure in question.
