Waste has a hidden potential for material and energetic utilization. The energetic potential of waste can be combined with some low quality fuels and thus, it can substitute valuable primary energy sources as well as decrease the amount of waste which is currently dumped. This is also where the Czech Republic is behind the requirements set by the Waste Management Plan. The objective of this paper is to introduce current legislative bottlenecks in the field of utilization of waste for mixed fuels production, disposing methods of selected kinds of waste, and mixed fuels production in the Czech Republic. The results of laboratory analyses of mixed fuels (formerly referred to as solid alternative fuels) made of low quality fossil fuels, biomass, and different kinds of waste are also presented.
