Revitalization of water regime on the dumps

Ing. Konstantin Dimitrovský, Ing. Miroslav Kunt, Ph.D., Ing. Jiří Prošek, Ing. Alena Jančová

The responsible approach to the recovery of complicated ecosystems in areas of brown coal mining (the region of Karlovy Vary, ústí nad Labem) assumes the solution and explanation based on the perfect knowledge of the poly-factorial relationships obtained by the modern experimental and practical research in the system of rock-water-climate-vegetation. The listed components and their recovery of the landscape in the form of agricultural soil, forests, lakes, and other (forest parks, sports complexes, zoo-parks, pheasantry, etc.) indicate that the solution is completely different from the regeneration of vegetation on the original soils in the so-called geological epoch. The main reason for processing the issues of creation and renewal of water regime on the territory devastated by mining and industrial activities are the following:
1. The current level of basic and applied research in both coal basins (1962 - 2012).2. Current principles of the landscape formation and intentions of the restoration of the soil, water, vegetation and infrastructure. 3. Geomorphological, hydric and vegetational formation of the landscape in the territory after the end of mining activities (approx. 2035 - the region of Karlovy Vary, 2065 - the region of ústí nad Labem). 4. All studies of the liquid phase for all substrates of clayey nature on dumps demonstrate constraining factors for the transport of nutrients as the most important factor for prosperity of the cultivated vegetation in the field of agriculture and forestry.
