Are there preserved volcanogenic inter-bed layers (known as tonsteiny) in the main bed of the Most basin?
The paper deals with possibility of occurrence of volcanogenic interbeds in the main coal bed of the Most basin. Results of many used research methods, including thin cuts and borehole data, XRF and XRD analysis and field research did not confirm occurrence of volcanogenic interbeds. Thanks to this research, interesting geochemical and mineralogical anomalous layers were discovered marked by increased content of Sr, Ba, P and Ca elements mainly corresponding to crandallite minerals. In contrast to crandallite-bearing horizons in the overlying Libkovice layers, there were not found any connections with volcanogenic processes for these layers. Comparing of these layers with interbeds from Antonín coal bed (in the Sokolov Basin) revealed an ambiguity in determining of the genetic type of interbeds. This problem is caused by presence of both volcanogenic and sedimentary materials in interbeds of the Antonín coal bed.
