The methodology for estimation of the amount of fugitive emissions for the surface open-pit mines of fuel and other mineral raw materials

Ing. Pavel Schmidt, Ing. Petr Svoboda, CSc., Ing. Jan Brejcha

Within the years 2015-2016, Brown Coal Research Institute investigated the research project "Research of fugitive emissions of solid pollutants (TPM) from open-pit mines of fuels and other raw materials (excluding stone quarries) and the proposal of methodologies for their determination". The main output of the project is the certified methodology, which includes the determination of emission factors for the major sources of emissions in the extraction of fuels and raw materials in the Czech Republic and the determination of fugitive emissions from the sources of air pollution including the proposed correction factors. The paper summarizes the basic project milestones.
