Ing. Pavel Schmidt, RNDr. Michal Řehoř, Ph.D., doc. Ing. Petr Vráblík, Ph.D.

The Brown Coal Research Institute, plc. is currently carrying out a long-term research into the development of the climate of the Czech Republic and its impact on mining activities as part of a European Union research project called TEXMIN. The topic of the research is the overall evaluation of the climatic change in the Czech Republic and main attention is devoted to the Most Basin. It is known as the largest Czech brown coal deposit. The article summarizes the results achieved so far. It is primarily an evaluation of the development of temperature and precipitation since 1961, their forecast for the future and an assessment of the impact of these changes on mining activities, including reclamation.
