Geology of Quaternary sediments in the forefield of the ČSA quarry (Černice-Horní Jiřetín area)

Ing. Lukáš Žižka, Ph.D., Ing. Mária Jarolimová, Ph.D.

The presented article focuses on the geological structure of Quaternary sediments in the foreground of the ČSA quarry in the area between the villages of Černice village and Horní Jiřetín. The main erosion phase of the slope of the Ore Mountains as well as the peneplane took place at the end of the Pliocene and in the Pleistocene. It is only in this phase that the coarse clasts are transported to the basin and accumulated in the form of proluvial coverings, gravel cones and piedmont gravel rim.
