Use of the ICP-OES method for the determination of metals in solid fuels and energy by-products

Ing. Zuzana Strolená, Ing. Lukáš Anděl

In addition to basic technological parameters, solid fuels and energy by-products are characterized by the content of various micro and macro elements. Several instrumental analytical methods such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS and others can be used to monitor the representation of these elements. The method of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) was chosen for the purposes of the accredited testing laboratory. This method provides both quantitative and semi-quantitative analysis of samples and provides the user with information on the content and concentration of the majority of the elements of the periodic table.
