The article informs the reader about different examples of in situ measurements using tribodiagnostic tests and tests on machine systems, which aim to determine the quality of the lubricant and the technical condition of the operated machines and equipment from which the lubricant sample was taken. The actual benefits of the use of tribodiagnostic tests are subsequently found in increasing the assurance of operational reliability, operability and life span of the operated machines and equipment, as well as in the safety and economy of the entire production process. The article also contains recommendations for identifying the formation of soft sludge.
