Operational conditions at mining sites are very difficult. Thus, they require high technical reliability of used machinery and also affect negatively machinery operation. Outdoor conditions influences operator's health as well as the total working performance. Vibration, noise, and temperature are the main negative factors affecting operators. Vibration should be minimized as it causes additional cyclic stress to construction parts and disproportionally reduce their service life.
Horizontal plate closures design for bulk solids aeration in silos
Ing. Robert Brázda, Ph.D.
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(3)
Bulk solids silo closures are essential components providing closing and opening of the silo mouth. Their basic safety function is to cut off the flow of material at different situations, such as silo breakdown, technological failure, or conveying failure. Moreover, they can also provide some control functions. The paper deals with changes of bulk solids vertical pressure σlvo at the silo mouth during different processes (aeration, pressure shock, and bulk solids relaxation) resulting in calculated input of silo horizontal plate closure drive.
Growth dynamics of wood species on the Šmeral spoil bank in the region of Most

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(3)
Growth dynamics of individual wood species was evaluated on the šmeral spoil bank, one of the oldest reclaimed spoil banks in the region of Most. Study plots were established in a monoculture stand of pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata), northern red oak (Quercus rubra), and ash (Fraxinus excelsior). An average sample tree was chosen in the study plots by measuring. Then, a disc was taken from the chosen sample trees at a height of 1,3 m. According to increment curves, the selected tree species terminate their juvenile phase of development at the age between 15 and 20. Subsequently, their dynamic diameter increment decreases....
The forest reclamation of the coal ash settling basin Lotta Marie
Petr Čermák, Vratislav Ondráček
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(3)
The paper presents findings concerning the conditions of 17-year-old settling basin called Lotta Marie, where coal ash originating from brown coal combustion in Ledvice power plant was disposed and forest reclamation was subsequently performed. We evaluated the technical reclamation of the site performed by application of fertilizable soils, soil properties of the developed Anthroposol, silvicultural measures, and growth vitality of tree species. Based on the performed investigation, the conditions of this reforested site is described as follows: great heterogeneity of the total thickness of the overlaying stratum formed from fertilizable soils, extreme...
Material and energetic utilization of waste
Ing. Robert Kořínek, RNDr. Ing. Josef Valeš
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(3)
Waste has a hidden potential for material and energetic utilization. The energetic potential of waste can be combined with some low quality fuels and thus, it can substitute valuable primary energy sources as well as decrease the amount of waste which is currently dumped. This is also where the Czech Republic is behind the requirements set by the Waste Management Plan. The objective of this paper is to introduce current legislative bottlenecks in the field of utilization of waste for mixed fuels production, disposing methods of selected kinds of waste, and mixed fuels production in the Czech Republic. The results of laboratory analyses of mixed fuels...
Belt conveyors and technical diagnostics
Ing. Vlastimil Moni, Ing. Petr Klouda, doc. Ing. František Helebrant
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(3)
The final aim of the project MPO FR-T11/537 called "The Complex Diagnostic System for the Belt Transport" is a single part custom manufacturing and sale of complex diagnostic system for belt transport and related services. The output of the project is a prototype of diagnostic system on a model belt conveyor and certified diagnostic services.
Contactless thermometry for technical diagnostics of belt conveyors
Ing. Vlastimil Moni, doc. Ing. František Helebrant
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(3)
The paper deals with thermometry used for detecting technical conditions of belt conveyors and relating services at brown coal open pits. Measurements are done with the financial support of the project MPO FR-T11/537 called "The Complex Diagnostic System for the Belt Transport". The output of the project is a prototype of diagnostic system on a model belt conveyor and certified diagnostic services. All performed measurements are also verified by in situ measurements.
