Pit slope stability assessment and pedological characteristics of the former open-pit mine Most-Ležáky
Ing. Petr Valvoda, Ing. Jaromír Fultner, RNDr. Michal Řehoř, Ph.D.
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2012, 52(4)
The paper addresses problematic aspects of final slope stability in the former brown-coal open-pit mine Most-Ležáky, which is currently being transformed into a pit-lake. An overview of reclamation works which have been done since the closure of the mine up to the present is provided. All the reclamation works were performed in order to provide long-term stability of the final pit slopes. The area surrounding the future pit-lake was split into several sites categorized by geological, hydrogeological, and stability parameters. Then, stability of each site was assessed from the geotechnical point of view. If the stability of the particular site was assessed...
Medard Pit-lake - groundwater monitoring in the surrounding of the former open-pit mine Medard-Libík
Ing. Petr Valvoda, Ing. Jaromír Fultner, Ing. Jan Stýblo
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2012, 52(4)
The paper deals with groundwater regime in the immediate surroundings of the former Medard-Libík mine pit. The hydrological conditions have been monitored since June 30, 2008, when water pumping at the bottom of the mine pit was stopped, up to the present. The groundwater monitoring in the surrounding of the flooding former mine pit has been performed at 5 observation wells, indicated as M1, M2, M3, M4, and M5. At the first stage, thy hydrology was influenced only by the spontaneous water inflow from the drainage area of the former open-pit mine. Then, the controlled flooding of the mine pit with the water from the River Ohře was started.
Mechanical slag dewatering method at Mělník power plant - part 2
Ing. Jaromír Täuber, Ing. Jaroslav Svoboda
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2012, 52(4)
The paper describes the method of mechanical slag dewatering, where the process water circulates in a closed circuit. This method was implemented at the Mělník power plant by ČEZ Energetické produkty, s.r.o., according to a documentation developed by these companies: Výzkumný ústav pro hnědé uhlí a.s., CAB minerals, spol. s r.o., and SUMO, s.r.o. It is a unique slag dewatering system with a subsequent re-use of process water. The slag is dewatered with the use of a vibratory screen separator and a hydrocyclone. Water that conveys the slag from boiler to pump stations is refined and returned to the process. The refining process has several stages. The...
Characteristic driving parameters measurement and determination for belt conveyor complex diagnostic system
Ing. Petr Klouda, Ing. Václav Škraban, Ing. Vlastimil Moni, Ph.D.
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2012, 52(4)
The paper deals with characteristic driving parameters which were measured at belt conveyor driving station. In addition to electric input, which is measured by default, additional physical values were also measured in order to reveal their mutual relations. A short description of the conducted measurement is provided in the paper as the results form a basis for the development of belt conveyor complex diagnostic system. This system will be applicable to a wide spectrum of belt conveyors, not only to large-scale conveyors which were subject to measurement, but also to small-scale conveyors.
Certification of coal combustion by-products
Ing. Renata Zárubová
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2012, 52(4)
As late as in the 1980s, coal combustion by-products were handled as waste in the Czech Republic. At present, most of these by-products are used in the construction industry. This paper deals with the certification procedure of these combustion by-products.
Quality management system at Výzkumný ústav pro hnědé uhlí a. s.
Zdeňka Kusková, Ing. Magdalena Špačková
Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2012, 52(4)
The paper informs about the quality management system implemented in the company. ISO 9001 is a global standard used to control quality management. The method is used to identify, plan, and control all interconnected processes within the company. Companies can benefit from the implemented quality management system (QMS) as they can better control and plan their financial, human, as well as material resources. Moreover, QMS can be helpful in securing suitable working environment, or providing machines, equipment, and technologies. The top management of the Výzkumný ústav pro hnědé uhlí a.s. decided to implement this standard in an effort to meet the...
