Research results of petrified woods mineralisation in Nechranice locality

RNDr. Michal Řehoř, Ph.D., Ing. Rostislav Nedbálek

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2013, 53(2)

Mineralogy of petrified trees found in the northern coast of water reservoir Nechranice is the object of the article. The work briefly summarises the geology of the surroundings and the characteristics of the locality Nechranice itself. Main attention is dedicated to mineralogical analysis of 12 samples taken here. The discovery of a unique palm tree petrified by rare mineral fluorapatite is the main result of the research.

Using calcium carbonate as neutralisation agent of acid mine water

Ing. Iva Bestová, Ph.D., Ing. Silvie Heviánková, Ph.D., Ing. Miroslav Zechner, Ph.D.

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2013, 53(2)

Neutralisation of acid mine drainage together with removal of iron, a part of manganese and heavy metals present in dissolved state is a basic step of its treatment before releasing it to a recipient. Hydrate of lime as lime milk is most often used for neutralisation. Hardness increase of treated water and creation of hard drainable sludge is a negative consequence of the use of lime hydrate which could be partially solved by using calcium carbonate, eventually by both agent combination. An effect of calcium carbonate in acid mine water from the Jiří open pit mine locality near the Sokolov town was observed in this work. Our attention was focused...

Laboratory research of significance of basic parameters influencing lignite oxidation

Ing. Vlastimil Moni, Ph.D., prof. Ing. Boleslav Taraba, CSc.

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2013, 53(2)

The article presents summarising information of solving issue of lignite tendency toward self-ignition (oxireactivity). A procedure of solving laboratory research of four lignite samples will be gradually described. But at first attention is paid to the description of the studied lignite samples and to flow calorimetry technique which was used as a main experimental methodology. The article describes so a part of research carried out in fame of complex long-term measurements on lignite dumps.

Summary measurement of basic parameters of model conveyor

Ing. Vlastimil Moni, Ph.D., Ing. Petr Klouda, Ing. Václav Škraban

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2013, 53(2)

The article describes a complex measurement of characteristic parameters on a model conveyor of long distance belt transportation. Electric power is currently measured on real drives of belt conveyors operated in Czechia quarries. Completion of the power measurement with a measurement of other physical quantities and getting knowledge of their mutual relations and of relations of quantities derived of them was a goal of the measurement. The article contents a description and results of the measurements on own model conveyor with a closed material transport way.

Dust rate reduction of machine equipment used in lignite mines

Ing. Vlastimil Moni, Ph.D., Ing. Jaromír Täuber, Ing. František Holý

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2013, 53(2)

Increased dust concentration in air implies a series of health hazards. Dust is also taken as a significantly disturbing element. Dust sometimes creates fire safety hazards in addition to health hazards in working environment as well. The article presents information of possible solution of dust reduction of machine equipment used in lignite mines and of pilot plant tests in situ where a rotation atomiser was used and tested in practice.
