Continual dust monitoring in the coal reservoirs

Continuous dust meters are used to monitor the development of dust in the internal areas of the coal reservoirs. The purpose is to monitor dust content in terms of high dust levels approaching the lower explosion limit values (LEL). This monitoring enables early detection of dangerous conditions disturbing the safe operation. The main goal is to provide sufficient time to take precautionary measures. The article deals with the production of liquid fuels from renewable sources, rich in hydrocarbons, such as by-products from agricultural production, from the current production of bio-components of liquid fuels, from digestate of biogas stations, from sewage sludge and compares their yields with the products of thermal treatment of coal.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic announced the extensive research programme NAZV-KUS in 2012. One of the subprograms was devoted to the problems of the areas of the Czech Republic with anthropogenic damage. The Brown Coal Research Institute took part in this programme as the main coordinator of the large research project in 2015-2018. The article summarises available knowledge about the Obránců míru dump, especially on the development of hydrological and hydrogeological conditions of the dump and its bottom and then information about the implemented rehabilitation actions.
