Sediments from water-bearing subsidence troughs in the region of Karvinsko were studied in 2008 within a pilot project focused onsix PAH congeners and their total amount. Different study sites in the region of Karvinsko were included such as a water body used forfishing (Velký Loucký rybník), former tailings pond (Mokroš), or a water body where mine waste, which is often used for reclamationin this region, was disposed (Barbora). PAH's levels in sediments were compared with ambient air concentrations in the studied area.Air pollution load by selected PAH's in the regions of Karvinsko and Mostecko is also assessed.
