A detailed study of the pedogenetical processes of anthropogenic substrates on the mining dumps in the area of Sokolov brown coal basin constitutes an essential precondition for the determination of the type of reclamation (agricultural, forestry, water, other - forest parks, pheasantry, golf courses, car racetracks, recreation areas, etc.) on anthropogenic soil substrates. The article presents the CEEMIR project, whose main aim is the revision of the inventory of mineral resources in the Czech Republic, which belongs among the EU's critical commodities, including selection of appropriate mineral deposits and the design of effective and environmentally friendly method of their production and treatment. The Research Institute of brown coal a.s. performs in its accredited testing lab the regular restoration of standard measuring techniques, in particular of the costly and investment ambitious items, with a view to their estimated service life in accordance with the approved long-term recovery plan, which is currently valid until the year 2020. Based on the initiative of the Department of geodesy and geology of the Mostecká uhelná a.s. the evaluation of side slopes of the open pit mine ČSA performed in the quarterly measurements was replaced by a continuous using the robotic total station with automatic target recognition. By the stabilisation of reflecting prisms in the territory, including the construction of protection points, the system for the monitoring of the side slopes has been created, which became the key method of whole monitoring system. This technical solution, which was chosen over a decade ago, works reliably in the almost unaltered condition up to this day.
