Measuring of the torque on the shafts of input pinions of the wheel drive gear box of the bucket wheel excavator KU 800.18/K99

The article describes the direct measurement of the torque on input shafts pinions of the wheel drive gearbox of the excavator KU 800.18/K99, which was implemented at the beginning of the year 2016. The direct measurement utilises connection of the classic strain-gauge sensors with the modern measuring microelectronic technology. The article provides the basic principles of measurement, description of the installation of sensors and measuring apparatus, measuring results and lessons learned.
