The functional potential of forest habitat on the anthropogenic substrates Sokolov, and the Chomutov region
Forest areas cultivated on the dump sites represent by their concept, composition of habitats and arrangement, a unique work built in a landscape devastated by the coal mining. Thanks to their selected concept and arrangement on the anthropogenic substrates of mine dumps, spoil heaps and waste piles, they are a unique work from the botanical, dendrology and forestry point of view. Current projects of forest treating (HúL) are completely inaccurate for reasons of pedology, dendrology and farming conditions. The composition of selected tree species of deciduous, coniferous and mixed stands was chosen based on the detected chemical, physical and mechanical properties of cypris and volcanodetritic series of clays in the area of Sokolov, and grey clays in the Chomutov region. The determining factors for the choice of tree species on dump sites are physical, chemical and hydro-pedological properties. The further criterion for the selection of tree species was the composition of flue gases from industrial plants in both coal mining districts. The soil moisture content in both districts is favourable for growing trees on dump sites.
