New findings on slope deformation at Šibeniční hůrka at the foot of the Krušné hory Mts.

Mgr. Martin Veselý, RNDr. Jan Burda, Ph.D.

The article gives a brief overview of selected slope deformations at the foot of the Krušné hory Mts. at the junction with the Most Basin. Special attention is paid to the extensive slope deformation below the slope of the Jezeří hill at the location of the former šibeniční hůrka. Reconstruction of this complex slope deformation is based on the evaluation of 216 boreholes and spatial analysis of the original terrain in GIS. Schmidt hammer was used to determine the mechanical properties of rocks, and thus also for a rough estimate of the age of slope deformation. The accumulation of a total volume ranging between 25.4 and 27.4 million m3 covered an area of 77.8 ha. Three main landslide events are assumed based on the Schmidt hammer test. All three anticipated events are linked to periods of significant climate change. The oldest is associated with warming in the Oldest Dryas, the most extensive movement is assumed at the end of the Younger Dryas (approximately 11,700 years ago) and the youngest movement is associated with a period of temperature fluctuations during the Atlantic (approximately 8,200 years ago). The separate area of slope deformation is connected to a 400 m high fault slope made of tectonically weakened rocks. We assume that the collapsed masses were mobilized during the movement by water bound in irrigated sediments of the basin, which allowed the front of the landslide masses to be brought to a distance of more than 1,000 m from the foot of the mountains.
