Exploratory mining works at the foot of the Krušné Hory Mts.

In connection with the development of the ČSA open-pit mine, an extensive set of exploratory-geological works and monitoring was carried out at the foot of the slopes of the Krušné Hory Mts. in the 1970s and 1980s. It was a unique and rare achievement to implement the mining works - four exploration galleries and two pits. In the long term, the so far functioning Jezeří exploration gallery has become the most important at the foot of the Krušné Hory Mts. Geological conditions and character of surrounding crystalline rocks had already been specified on the basis of the results obtained during the excavation and subsequent detailed measurements and engineering-geological mapping. Based on these results, a stability protective pillar was subsequently determined, eliminating the risk of instability of slopes of the Krušné Hory Mts. with possible adverse effects on the stability of the side slopes of the ČSA open-pit mine. The monitoring taking place in the Jezeří exploration gallery has its justification both now and in the future.
