Reclamation issues of devastated agricultural and forest soils in the Czech Republic have a long tradition, especially in the area of the brown coal mining. The increased demands of energetic fuel resources within the period of the industry building in the Czechoslovakia caused after the World War II devastation of considerable territorial complexes in the area of the occurrence of the coal deposits. The landscape formations on the territory of our Republic were changing naturally in the areas of the classic agriculture and forestry. The recovery of a devastated territory by the agricultural, forestry, hydric or so called other reclamation procedure has the oldest tradition in the area of the Sokolov brown coal basin. Especially, the research and organisation of the forestry reclamation was supported excellently. The restoration of vegetation in the region of Sokolov in the form of the forest reclamation has created more valuable landscape units. The recovery system of the forest green on the dumping localities of the Sokolov basin is dendrologically and economically specific. For this reason, we have described this topic in the form of the submitted contribution. The basic condition for the success of the forestry reclamation in the Sokolov area became the foundation of the reclamation forestry area (arboretum) of 164 ha on the dump Antonín, as the only existing reclamation arboretum.
