Reclamation of the Radovesice dump

RNDr. Michal Řehoř, Ph.D., Vratislav Ondráček

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(4)

The Radovesice dump is the most extensive dump of the Severoceské doly a.s. and one of the largest dump in the Czech Republic. Overburden dumping was completed here in the year 2003. Technical and biological reclamation, mostly forestry, reclamation, is taking place in the area presently. Difficulties during the reclamation of the Radovesice dump are caused by the large area of the dump and mostly adverse properties of dumped material. The paper summarizes the history, present, and perspective of the reclamation of the Radovesice dump. A special emphasis is focused on the application of modern reclamation methodology, especially application of marls...

Production and non-production functions of anthropogenic soils at dumps in the Sokolov Coal Basin

Ing. Konstantin Dimitrovský, Ing. Barbora Modrá, DiS., Ing. Dana Prokopová

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(4)

The landscape of the Sokolov region has been in the focus of interest concerning reclamation since the 50th of the 20th century. The reclamation of the landscape devastated by brown coal mining in northwest of Bohemia (regions of Karlovy Vary and ústí) including agricultural, forestry, hydro, and other types of reclamations has been a prerequisite for the restoration of post-mining agricultural landscape. The whole system of research and its practical implementation was aimed at regeneration of soil, water, and vegetation in order to attain these aims. Agriculture and forestry in these regions can be restored only if production soils are reclaimed....

Amethyst occurrence at historical iron mineral deposits in the central part of the Krušné Hory Mountains

RNDr. Michal Řehoř, Ph.D., Ing. Petr Šašek, Ph.D.

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(4)

The violet type of quartz is one of the oldest and best known precious stones in the world. The sites, where amethyst occur in the Krušné Hory Mountains, are very often part of historical deposits of iron minerals. The amethyst sites take a really exceptional place in the history of precious stones' extraction. The history of their extraction is more than 600 years long. One of these sites is Ciboušov, a famous site, stones of which were used in the chapels of the Karlštejn Castle by Emperor Charles IV. The paper presents the situation of important sites and possibilities of their protection. A special attention is focused on a newly discovered amethyst...

Monitoring of dust conveyor drum bearing vibration spectrum

RNDr. Milan Neubert, Ing. Vitaliy Velychko, doc. RNDr. Jan Nedbal, CSc., RNDr. Helena Valentová, Ph.D., Ing. Petr Klouda

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(4)

We developed a diagnostic device that can be cheaply incorporated into drums in order to measure their vibration characteristics continuously, to monitor their time development, and to forecast possible breaks of bearings. Vibration measurement is based on a Kionix accelerometer. Fast Fourier transformation performed by an industrial PC presents a frequency spectrum from 10-1 Hz to 103 Hz. A prototype of the device was tested during operations at the mine Nástup Tušimice and the results were compared with simultaneous measurements performed by commercial mobile equipment. This paper analyses vibration spectrum of a dust conveyer drum bearings.

Conveyer belt rubber layers aging

RNDr. Helena Valentová, Ph.D., doc. RNDr. Jan Nedbal, CSc., RNDr. Milan Neubert

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(4)

The objective of the paper is to assess possible use of the dynamic mechanical spectroscopy for determination and prediction of life time of conveyor belt rubber layers. During long-lasting operation, conveyor belt rubber layers undergo changes of their physical properties, especially changes of network (crosslink) density, glass transition temperature, equilibrium modulus, and elongation-to-break. These changes, called aging, originate in air oxygen activity, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations. Mechanical measurements of real and imaginary part of complex Young's modulus proceeded in the temperature region from temperatures corresponding to...

Topical abroad business trips made by HSPO in 2010

Ing. Jaromír Fultner, Ing. František Fraus, CSc.

Zpravodaj Hnědé uhlí 2010, 50(4)

In 2010, the HSPO (a mining society) organized for their members as well as for employees of mining companies topical trips to two of the German brown coal mining districts, the central German district and the Rhenish district. Concerning the latter district, the participants of the trips also visited important technical and sightseeing sites and points of interests in the neighbouring Belgium and the Netherlands.
